Kihirdették a Budapest International Foto Awards 2020-as nyerteseit. Annak ellenére, hogy ez az év viharos volt, a zsűri testülete kivételes kreativitást és a személyes történetek valóban lenyűgöző ábrázolását látta. A fotós közösség munkája megmutatta a képek erejét a világlátás alakításában. A BIFA büszke arra, hogy támogatja és elismeri ezeket a fotósokat, akik olyan fontos történeteket osztanak meg képeiken keresztül, amelyek a lencséjük révén ablakot engednek a világba.
Az év fotósa, Eduardo Lopez Moreno által a nézők bepillantást nyerhettek egy mexikói kisvárosba, ahol két drogokat árusító banda összecsapása véletlen gyilkosságot eredményezett. Rossz helyen a rossz időben – a kábítószer-bandák véletlen áldozata című fotósorozat felhívja figyelmünket arra a megdöbbentő tényre, hogy békésen a padon ülni is veszélyes lehet a világ egyes területein.

Komár Sabrina Monológ-sorozata megragadja azokat a belső konfliktusokat, amelyek mindenkiben jelen vannak: “Monológomnak látszólag sok szereplője van, és mégsem. Mert mindegyik én vagyok, és mégsem. Állandó konfliktusban, harcban állok önmagammal. De melyik szereplő az igazi, hol vagyok, melyik vagyok én? Cianotípiáimmal erre keresem a választ. A munkám során hajtogatások és több expozíció során hoztam létre a képeket a saját arcommal és testemmel. Mivel én vagyok a modell és az alkotó is, a tudatos tervezés csak egy pontig működik, hiszen nem láthatom magam felülről a papíron fekve. Ez a fajta véletlenfaktor azonban felszabadít.”

The winners of the Budapest International Foto Awards 2020 edition have been announced. Even though this year was a tumultuous one, the jury panel has seen exceptional creativity and a truly stunning representation of personal stories. Through their work, the photography community shows the power of images in shaping how we see the world. BIFA is once again proud to support and honour these photographers who have such important stories to share through their images, giving us a window to the world through their lenses.
Photographer of the Year, Eduardo Lopez Moreno let viewers take a glimpse into a small town in Mexico where a clash between two drug gangs resulted in an accidental murder. In The Wrong Place At The Wrong Time – Accidental Victim of Drug Gangs is the photograph series that grasps the shocking fact that just sitting on a bench peacefully can be dangerous in some areas of the world.
Discovery of Year: Sabrina Komár, Hungary
Sabrina Komár’s Monologue series captures the inner conflicts that everyone has within themselves: “My monologue seems to have a lot of characters, and yet it doesn’t. Because it’s all me, and yet it’s not. I am in constant conflict and struggle with myself. But which character is the real one, where am I, which one am I? I am looking for the answer to this with my cyanotypes.”

The Budapest International Foto Awards (BIFA)—a brand new and hotly anticipated annual event that spotlights some of the most brilliant and insightful photography from around the world—has announced the winners in its first annual photography competition in both Professional and Student divisions. The inaugural edition of the BIFA competition received over 2,700 outstanding entries from 82 countries, representing some of the most poignant and powerful stories told through photography.
Hossein Farmani, Founder and President of BIFA and its parent company, Farmani Group, shared his excitement at the winners’ announcement:
“I have always believed in the value of photography as an art form and medium of communication, especially in this day and age when true story-telling can seem endangered by the sheer volume of information that is at our fingertips. But truly great photography will always stand out and as this award has shown, strong images will continue to shine and significantly impact the way we see the world. That is what BIFA is about and I could not be more pleased and proud of the winners–each of them unique, beautiful, and thought-provoking works. Magnificent!”
