Trapped

Captured in 2019, these mesmerizing light patterns on Thomas Schroeper's Bay Front Pavilion in Singapore gained a new meaning during the pandemic. As I worked on these images amid COVID in China, they became a powerful metaphor. The interplay of light and shadow eerily foreshadowed our future: grateful for a daily normality, yet confined. Like the light, we became TRAPPED—cut off from loved ones, powerless to help even in crises. This pre-pandemic images unwittingly embody the isolation we faced, revealing beauty in constraint and connection in separation.

With a background in surface science, I am drawn to details, patterns, textures, forms and colours that surround us and influence our feelings. They are the basis of my inspiration and provide the frames to my works. Through the combination of various camera techniques, I transform these frames and their colours into abstracts that bring my visual imagination to life. Having lived in a variety of countries I have the strong desire to bridge the gap of cultural differences and raise awareness to the beauty of nature through my works.
