When I came to Newfoundland 3 years ago as an international student, Robert Tilley, a 73-year-old Newfoundlander, is the first friend I made, and through the years, he has become my best friend. I visit his home regularly and get to know his life. I took this series of photos, presenting his daily life at his home, which he built 43 years ago in a small fishing village in Newfoundland. In these photos, he plays, rests, naps, cooks, and reads. I try to present everything in their real daily-life context. Through my photos, you can see an old Newfoundlander's lifestyle, regular but unique.
I left my home in Asia and came to Newfoundland Canada three years ago as an international student. During the past three years, I have not only found my new home in Newfoundland, but also my muse. Newfoundland is the inspiration for my photography. Robert Tilley, a -73-year-old true and born Newfoundlander, is the first friend I made when I come to Newfoundland, and now he has become my best friend. Robert and I have traveled most parts of Newfoundland, and he appears in many of my photos as a model.
