In my photography of Friesian horses I am drawn to the contrast between their impressive and strong appearance and their soft, expressive nature. In this image, that duality is reflected visually: the unexpected warmth of the orange mane against the black coat and the contrast in light and dark mirrors that. Rather than presenting the Friesian as only a symbol of strength, this portrait celebrates the complexity that makes the breed so compelling to photograph.
Nannie has an extensive background in the equestrian world and, as a self-taught artist, has evolved into a fine art photographer specializing in equine photography. Her years of working with horses at an international level have given her a profound understanding of their behaviour, presence, characters and unique energy. Today, she observes and approaches horses from a different perspective — through the lens of her camera. This rare combination of expertise and artistic vision allows her to create a genuine connection with her subjects, resulting in intimate and striking portraits.
