Photographed in the heat and dust of Andalusia, Spain, this series captures the powerful interaction between two stallions as they circle, charge, challenge, and play. While their encounters are expressions of natural social behaviour, I was struck by something beyond their displays of strength. As I photographed them, I had the distinct feeling I was witnessing a carefully choreographed dance. Each movement seemed to invite a response. At times they confronted one another with explosive energy; moments later they mirrored each other's steps with remarkable precision.
Nannie has an extensive background in the equestrian world and, as a self-taught artist, has evolved into a fine art photographer specializing in equine photography. Her years of working with horses at an international level have given her a profound understanding of their behaviour, presence, characters and unique energy. Today, she observes and approaches horses from a different perspective — through the lens of her camera. This rare combination of expertise and artistic vision allows her to create a genuine connection with her subjects, resulting in intimate and striking portraits.
