The Lost Years is the result of nearly a year spent meeting men inside an Italian prison, with the authorization of the Italian Ministry of Justice and the informed consent of those portrayed. Built on time, trust and listening, the project looks beyond incarceration to explore the persistence of identity, dignity and hope. Through intimate portraits and everyday moments, it invites viewers to encounter the person before the prisoner. Rather than questioning guilt or innocence, these photographs ask what remains of a human being when freedom, time and social identity are profoundly altered.
