I found this rock on the Pacific coast of Korea – helmet-shaped, sentinel-like. Trees that have been bent and shaped by years of wind stand on this rock. The sand carries footprints leading to nowhere in particular while the tides move quietly in and out. I set up my camera and waited for the light. Clouds drag slowly across the sky, long enough for a long exposure to dissolve them into a soft stillness.
