The market is one of humanity’s oldest and most vital spaces—a place of exchange and encounter where cultures communicate through gestures, scents, and colors. In Asia, this tradition remains alive, from Middle Eastern souks to Thailand’s floating markets and Indian bazaars—a vibrant microcosm of life. In his new photographic book, Paolo Beltrame leads a sensory journey. Each image captures faces, gestures, and exchanges, inviting the viewer into the heart of Asian markets to sense their spirit and discover the imperfect beauty of one of humanity’s oldest everyday spaces.
