The Shoes on the Danube Bank monument in Budapest commemorates the Jewish victims who were executed on the banks of the Danube during World War II. They were forced to remove their shoes before being shot so they could be reused. Standing in front of the memorial was the most powerful experience I had during my visit to Budapest. This photograph is my attempt to preserve that feeling and keep the story alive. By adding water texture to the image, I wanted to evoke the Danube itself, the silent witness that carried away so many lives.
Passionate about photography since i was 12 years old.
