“Autumn in the Vineyard” considers the infinite and cyclical nature of beauty and being. The subject of the photograph is of a neglected and aging wall found on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. Color, light, and compositional shifts were used to reveal the protean nature of its existence and beauty - and by reference, the ever changing nature of all that exists and the beauty of all things.
Sam Rittenberg lives and works in New York City and the Dominican Republic. His primary interest is in a photograph's power to convey the infinite and paradoxical nature of being. He is guided by the idea that every picture has the potential to be a portal to that which is ordinarily beyond us.
