Oaxaca is the most culturally diverse state in Mexico. Home to 16 different indigenous groups,each with distinct languages & traditions dating back to pre-hispanic times.In the capital Oaxaca de Juárez indigenous festivals fill the streets.The Oaxaqueñas is a glimpse into this culture that defines Oaxaca’s indigenous identity which thrives through the passing down of ritual beliefs & traditions.Guided by a deep appreciation these communities,this series focuses on the the vibrant clothing & dance which is inextricably linked to the state's folkloric heritage.
I'm a fashion and advertising photographer based in NYC. Along with my commercial and editorial work, I also donate advertising campaigns to social businesses. Often these businesses are in economically challenged parts of the world. My team and I travel to their location to document their craft and the people involved. We work together to come up with imagery to help tell their story and feature their workmanship. We create a visual campaign to help their business get broader exposure. I've done these projects in Haiti, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya & Uganda to name a few. I truly love my job.
