Kakemono

  • Photographer
    Grzegorz Piaskowski

The Vistula is the largest Polish river. It flows through the very center of our country. From the mountains to the sea. When I rode my bicycle to work over the bridge, it was still freezing, but the temperature was rising quickly, giving that magical effect of a mixture of ice and steam. I took the photo in Plock. The photograph refers to the aesthetics of Japanese vertical painting - kakemono.

Ethnologist. Currently, I work at a museum, where I curate and create exhibitions. I authored a permanent exhibit about Buddhism, which was inaugurated the Mazovian Museum in P?ock, Poland. It is the only place in the world where Hokusai's famous “Great Wave of Kanagawa” can be seen on permanent display
