Galata’s Everyday Stories

  • Photographer
    Paola Signorelli

The vibrancy that makes Galata Bridge a unique microcosm in the heart of Istanbul deeply fascinated me. It is a crossroads of intertwined stories and lives, and each shot reflects the lively everyday life that unfolds on this iconic bridge, where tradition and modernity merge. Through contrasts of light and shadow, I sought to capture the pulse of life on Galata, a place where something is always happening, in a continuous flow of emotions and encounters

I approached photography many years ago, initially to take photos during trips or special occasions. But then I felt the need to go beyond, to understand what photography truly meant. This led me to study at the Academy of Luciano Perbellini, a journey that completely transformed my approach to photography. Today, I don’t photograph just to capture a memory, but to express myself. Through images, I try to convey what words cannot say. I photograph because it makes me feel good; it’s my way to slow down, listen to myself, and observe the world around me.
