Eyes In My Tears - A Letter

  • Photographer
    Carla Pohl

Welcome to a journey to my ancestors. In "Eyes in My Tears - A Letter", you accompany me to Poland, the former Lower Silesia, where my ancestors ran their inn called "Zur Hoffnung" (Hope). Immerse yourself in the poignant story of my great-great-grandparents, Carl and Pauline, as told through tenderly preserved letters. In a time when distance seems to grow, this serves as a reminder that love, family, and belonging are the universal ties that connect us all. "Eyes in My Tears - A Letter" is a welcome to life, to the life of my ancestors, to life in general, and a call to humanity.

Photography is transformation - the connection between yesterday and today, now and tomorrow. It heals the past and shows the moment in the now. It connects people and nature, connects woman and man, female and male. Since 2011 I am working as a freelance photographer in Berlin. With Arno Fischer and ibylle Bergemann I learned to take pictures at a young age. Since 2016 I have been guided and accompanied in my profession by the photographer Gundula Schulze Eldowy. At the Free University of Berlin I studied art history and literature with the degree Magister Artium.
