My work focuses on LGBTQIA+ individuals who embody a diverse blend of appearances and expressions. These images transcend mere portraits; they are visual narratives that challenge conventional gender norms and delve into deeper existential themes. Each photograph captures subjects in intimate settings where water and nature symbolize sin, purity, concealment, and revelation. Through the interplay of light, shadow, and the merging of the human form with natural elements, I evoke a metaphysical stillness that reflects the secrecy of sexual identity and the complexity of desire.
Elli Asker is a multidisciplinary artist based in Stockholm, born and raised in Baku (former Soviet Union). Hold a bachelor's degree in political science. Without barriers in her creative research, she tries her hand at photography, collages, and various experiments. In her work, Elli investigates the relationship between experiences of PTSD healing, queer and immigrant identities.
