Narcissus

  • Photographer
    Claudia Missailidis

The photograph "Narcissus" depicts a man admiring his reflection in the water, evoking the mythological figure. This image discusses the fragility of modern relationships, where connections are superficial and disposable. The image symbolizes contemporary narcissism and individualism, reflecting the incessant search for validation and lack of commitment. Water represents the volatility of relationships, while Narcissus illustrates the loneliness and isolation resulting from self-involvement, encapsulating the critique of liquid society and its ephemeral human connections.

I am Claudia Missailidis, photographer and visual artist, and my focus is to develop authorial works, in particular related to visual poetics as a means of personal expression and construction of meanings. My photographic work is characterized by an intimistic visualization of the world and places of affection, bringing to life the unique emotional link between people, or between people and the places they have lived strong emotions which they carry in their memory.
