Into The Desert

  • Photographer
    Michael Potts

This was made on a trip to a GIANT sand dune in eastern California. I like working in the dunes / desert because it's a built-in metaphor, our times in the desert. Much of our lives are that way; wandering aimlessly without direction or purpose. Most of us will enter the desert more than once and hopefully someone will guide us out of it and give us direction. Sometimes we choose to enter it ourselves in search of something, yet we know not what.

I've worked with photography for over twenty years, seriously since 2015. My long-term project is real-life family moments where I photograph families 1-2 times per year in their homes or a regular setting. On the more artistic side I'm building a body of work that explores the nature and metaphor of the dream world.
