Shoes Saviour

Ever-advancing manufacturing technology has significantly lowered the production costs, as well as retail prices, of shoes, pushing shoes to inevitably undergo the transformation from durable goods to general consumable items that would readily be disposed of when torn. Low-value shoes are justified to be repaired only at low-cost small stalls in alleys or roadsides, manually. In contrast, high-value shoes are processed at specialty stores. The demand for manual repair services is gradually diminishing. Shoes could be saved, but not the craftsmanship heritage.

Kirby Ma is an award-winning passionate Chinese Canadian photographer based in Hong Kong, practicing street photography, portraits, landscape, cityscape, nature, and snap. With the work nature of previous career engagements in corporate business development, he stationed and traveled to different countries, namely North Korea, Egypt, the Philippines, Brazil, the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc., he developed a deep interest in its local culture and lifestyles. His vision is to share photography's joy and bring people happiness.
