The Centre Pompidou (architects: Renzo Piano, Richard Rogers) is also called "La Raffinierie" by the locals. When you look at the exterior façade, you immediately recognise how it got this name. The supporting structure and pipes for building services and access were visibly arranged on the outside of the building. The supporting structure and ventilation pipes are painted white, the transport (stairs, escalators) red, the electrics yellow, the water pipes green and the air conditioning pipes blue.
