Transition

We have a natural difficulty in recognizing what is,from what it appears. For example, we connect a flower to a gift that nature has created only for us, when it is nothing more than a way to promulgate the species.I wanted to express the sacredness of life in a potential form,a quiescent phase, suspended between winter and spring, life and death, sleep and waking. The plant, as it appears in my work, is in a transition phase, ready to transform into what we consider properly with flowers and leaves. To enhance this thought, I focused on the less conspicuous period of the year and on the roots.

Paolo Vergnano (1969, Asti) is a photographer and biologist, lives and works in the town of Alba.
