At household waste collection sites, the classification, recovery, recycling and treatment of plastic waste is limited. The amount of plastic waste and nylon bags in Vietnam accounts for about 8-12% of household solid waste. But only about 11-12% of plastic waste and nylon bags are processed, the rest is mainly buried, burned and released into the environment. And it is in these landfills that the livelihood of a small part of the community surrounding the landfill is located. The children here had to help their parents search for scrap in the hope of selling it for daily living expenses.
