René Kuipers is an award-winning portrait photographer from the Netherlands, working from his studio in Velsen-Noord. A self-taught artist, he began photographing landscapes at the age of sixteen before discovering his passion for portraiture through a dance school assignment. Today, he is best known for creating dramatic, emotionally charged portraits inspired by the Old Masters, particularly Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Caravaggio. His work often features dancers and explores themes of strength, vulnerability, and human connection through carefully crafted light and shadow.
