The Asuras, ancient Indian deities, were known for their combative nature. They rivaled the Devas, led by Lord Indra. Asuras, often depicted as extremely ugly males and exceptionally beautiful females, resided in the non-heavenly realm. Their rivalry with the Devas stemmed from jealousy; Devas had delicious food but lacked beautiful women, while Asuras had beautiful women but lacked exquisite food. This envy led to continuous fierce conflicts, resulting in large-scale wars. This era of intense warfare is historically known as the "Shuraba," representing the battlefield of the Asuras and Devas.
