I wanted to make a project about Ukrainian women. Those, who have been living away from their homes and husbands for more than 1.5 years. Those, who took their children to another country because of the war in Ukraine. Who live at the crossroads of different languages, cultures and the endless crossroads of personal difficult choices. They miss their homes, the blue and yellow Ukrainian lans, the hugs of their relatives, but still remain unbreakable & sensual, strong & free. ***Here you can see a traditional Ukrainian dress - Vyshyvanka, which has always been the national symbol of Ukraine.

Irina Cheremisina is a visual artist based in Valencia, Spain. Born in Ukraine, she was obliged to leave her native country when the war began in 2022. An economist by profession, Irina was always passionate about art, photography and handmade, but she found her professional calling in visual art only after moving to Spain. Irina works across photography and collage. She is an active participant of international photography exhibitions and photography awards. Together with other photographers her works were published in “100 Contemporary Ukrainian Photographers” book.
