The Bagan Plain is home to more than 2,200 ancient temples and pagodas, and a hot air balloon ride over Bagan overlooking this magical land is more than just a trip, it’s a celebration event. Every day, locals look forward to the sunrise with full enthusiasm. After coffee, bread, wind direction test and simple ceremony, the balloon takes off from the southern edge of the plain, flying along the wind over part of the area, where you can see endless temples, An aerial view of grasslands and other hot air balloons scattered across the sky. Combined with the sunrise, it's a truly incredible sight.
Chris Yan, photographer, designer, was born in Beijing, China in 1981. After graduating from Communication University of China with a degree in art and design, he started working for a number of international advertising agencies. In 2013 he founded his own company, focusing on commercial design and art creation, and began photography. He mainly explores humanities and street photography. For the past ten years, he has been photographing in different countries and currently he lives and works in Beijing.
