“Mobius” focuses on the infinite and cyclical nature of being. The title was derived from the resemblance that the ribbon like graffiti has to a Mobius strip. The subject of the photograph is the dilapidated side panel of an old delivery truck. Color and light were used to define the elements in the photograph after which compositional alterations were made as to express the ubiquitous availability of the universe in even the most ordinary and overlooked of places.
Sam Rittenberg lives and works in New York City and the Dominican Republic. His primary interest is in the ability of a photograph to express the infinite and paradoxical nature of being. He is guided by the idea that every picture has the potential to be a portal to that which is ordinarily beyond us. Twenty of Mr. Rittenberg’s works have been recognized in international competitions, including the Annual Photography Awards, Chromatic Awards, Fine Arts Photography Awards, International Photo Awards, Neutral Density Awards, Refocus - World Photo Annual, and the Tokyo International Foto Awards.
