Kaela In Black Robe

  • Photographer
    Michael Potts

Above the surface much of my work has centered around water, introspection, and emerging from darkness into light. Long moments of silence and self-reflection stand out as defining or favored memories, with water used in moments of renewal, and light in communion with the spirit. My most recent work has focused on elements of the desert; not in a literal sense but the desert as the psychological state where one is seeking spiritual direction, though elements of the actual desert (sand) play a role symbolically. As a direct contrast many of my other pieces have been thematically exploring unit

I've worked with photography for over twenty years, seriously since 2015. My long-term project is real-life family moments where I photograph families 1-2 times per year in their homes or a regular setting. On the more artistic side I'm building a body of work that explores the nature and metaphor of the dream world.
