She is a queen without a court, newly awakened, but her people are already within her. She is one of the few bumblebees that survived the winter. When the temperatures dropped last year, she looked for a place to overwinter. A newly awakened queen flies only a few seconds, then she has to rest for a long time. The photographs show the state of the being just awakened – its hunger, its beauty meeting momentary disorientation and confusion, its trembling, its gradual enlightenment. Stylistic means of implementation are long exposures with fill-in flash, blurring and standard exposures.
