Hat Heads

  • Photographer
    Pauline Petit
  • Agency / Studio
    Pauline Petit

The Hat Heads series consists of a dozen self-portraits featuring characters wearing atypical hats created from recyclable materials (cardboard, polystyrene, wood, etc.) and salvaged objects (dustbins, curtain rings, etc.). The style of this series is anonymous and minimalist, with a neutral facial expression, eyes and mouth closed. The lines are precise and geometric, the contrasts strong and balanced. Pauline Petit, the photographer, creates her own sketches, accessories and make-up. She takes the photos and retouches them herself. She works alone in her studio in the countryside of Normandy

Pauline Petit was born in 1986. She comes from Normandy (France) where she lives and works in her studio. Ever since she was a child, Pauline has been interested in artistic careers. That’s why she wrote and illustrated a collection of children's books becoming shortly thereafter a professional photographer in 2007. In 2019, Pauline developed a multidisciplinary personal photography work, mixing illustration, painting, and photography, implicating a scenery of humor, graphic design and aesthetics.
