During the first Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020 in London, UK, the person in the image swiftly positioned herself on the window sill, as if suddenly overcome by cat behaviour, to reach out to family and friends over the phone. I quickly grabbed my malfunctioning iphone SE to capture the rather unusual situation. What you see is what the phone camera conveyed, as if it was aware of the worrying pandemic, the agonising environment, yet still, it allowed for a few bright spots, light at the end of the tunnel.
I am an amateur photographer with a soft spot for the urban environment, abandoned places, geometrical patterns, altered perspectives, and moody ambients. The onus is on composition, simplicity, shadows and contrasts, untold stories or incomplete pictures, and on, what is hoped, the creation of arresting photography. Both film and digital are used.
