Dreams have always been a great source of inspiration in my work and the symbolism they invoke. They can be considered a window into the subconscious mind. The symbolism within dreams can be powerful in revealing a lot about our inner thoughts, hidden desires and emotions but only if we pay attention to them. Through interpreting our dreams there is a lot to be learnt about our inner psyche. This image is a portrait of my friend Livy, a Dream worker confronting the multiple versions of herself within a dream.
Laura Antonia Abbott is a British, Fine Art and Conceptual Photographer, with a multi disciplinary artistic background. Laura’s work is rich in symbolism. Surrealist dreamscapes emerge from her visual imagery; influenced by her poetic observations of the world and human encounters. Recurrent themes that frequent her work are the search for female identity, threats to the natural world and mental health. Laura constructs her images primarily on location with rich colours and handmade props created from recycled materials.
