Williamsburg is in the borough of Brooklyn, NY. It is home to the largest Hasidic community in the world. This particular sect is known know as the Satmar from Satu Mare (St. Mary) in Romania. They are a particularly reclusive group. But, on Purim that's all different. It commemorates the saving of the Jewish people from annihilation at the hands of an official of the Achaemenid Empire named Haman, as it is recounted in the Book of Esther. Also known as Hebrew Halloween.
I am a street and wedding photographer from the US. My mom bought me my first camera at the age of 5. It was a Kodak Instamatic 104. I was a freelance in NYC for 10 years before stopping for 20 years. Now, I'm back. I am drawn to creating images of life in real time. I don't see and rarely achieve pictures that are telling a story of what's happening at the time. Rather, I am selfish and see the people as my props to make images that are (hopefully) bold and with emotion. And..., I love humor.
