On the way to the airport of Madeira Island, I came across a forest that immediately captivated me. Fog drifted through the cedar forest, whose tree trunks were overgrown with lichen and moss. I immediately grabbed my camera and took the first pictures. Then I applied the wiping technique, with longer exposure times and vertical movements of varying intensities.
I am 54 years old and live in Seligenstadt, Hesse. For many years, I worked as a landscape gardener, where I was able to work creatively with nature. Due to tragic events, I can no longer pursue my profession, which gave me time to devote more intensively to photography. Initially, it was primarily while traveling and in nature that I discovered abstract and contemporary photography. With a camera, you can create beautiful, individual works of art; you just have to get involved. This doesn't happen at the push of a button, however; it happens intuitively, based on the situation.
