In remote areas along the coastline of northern Mindanao Island of the Philippines, there are countless fishery villages and mining towns. Numerous villages were seriously attacked by super typhoon Odette on Dec. 16, 2021, causing a complete blackout up to today, and the first dark Christmas was inevitably experienced by the villagers. With no electric power, those villagers were pushed to live beyond the tolerance limit. A father and his young son were sadly watching house debris floating on a lake's surface.
Kirby Ma is a passionate Chinese Canadian photographer, currently based in Hong Kong, conducting street photography, portraits, landscape, cityscape, nature, and snaps. With the aid of various employment engagements, he could station in different countries such as Egypt, the Philippines, the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan, Taiwan, etc. to have close encounters and a better understanding of the local culture and people to perform portraits and street photography extensively.
