For 40 years after the 1960s, rock and roll was a worldwide cultural and entertainment phenomenon, and its core spirit of "peace and love" influenced almost the whole world. In China, from the early 1980s to the 21st century, there was also a rock 'n' roll boom. It has played a huge role in enlightening Chinese people's minds. During the decade 2008-2018, I photographed the lives, rehearsals and performances of many Chinese rock musicians. In today's China, there is no freedom of expression. So the rock culture that once existed in China has gradually disappeared, and I miss the free rock era.
