The 'ripped' trend came in the 1970s. Wearing tattered or worn ragged clothing was marked as anger towards society. Pop singer celebrities popularised this trend, and soon fans started following it. Sometimes, it becomes a mockery and tagged bad clothing exposing the skin. But soon, denim companies commercialised the trend and introduced 'ripped jeans' as part of their consumer goods. It is in existence now in deep indigo colour jeans.
