This is the latest image for my ongoing series of self portraits "Seeking", that started in 2020. It came from a moment I was feeling stuck visually with my photography and could not create a new image for quite a while, as I am my own worst critic. So I decided to lock myself in the room and try some things out. And just the act of turning the camera on and playing around with shapes and lights was already such a good exercise to keep myself active. It was a good reminder that sometimes the best way out of a creative dry spell is to just get up and keep trying.
My love for photography started when my father bought me a small digital camera – I was obsessed with the idea I could keep ephemeral things alive forever. How with the simple click of my camera could I eternalize a moment in time. I started taking self portraits over ten years ago as a way to discover myself as a person. Now I see photography as a way to know different parts of me and explore my own body. It helps me to get in touch with a deeper level of my own self love and self worth. Photography helped me to be kinder to myself – I am now grateful for my body and what it allows me to do
