The theme of the earth without humankind in a post apocalyptic setting has always fascinated me and is today more relevant than ever. We don't know how long mankind will prevail. We are facing war and climate change all instigated by us as a species. What we do seem to know, is that no matter what happens to us, our planet will prevail and there is scope to imagine that a new world will be of an animal kingdom of peace and balance. There is today enough evidence to suggest and to pose ourselves the question if planet Earth might not be a better place without humankind?
Sara Sandberg creates imaginative photographic collages. Her art is characterized by the interplay between light and shadow. Each object is photographed individually and composited into a finished piece. Animals are recurring elements which give life to the story in the images, often in a playful way. As such, own photography and digital painting are brought together to generate atmospheric scenes that engages and encourages the viewer to his or her own interpretation. No AI is used in the process.
