I am so attracted to the sea that it captures me completely. Maredentro means to me both ‘the sea inside’ and ‘inside the sea’. The visual and physical contact with the water, but also its musical dimension, nourishes in me a strong emotional relationship, a kind of epiphany: its flow leads me to a psychic reflection that I try to show in these photographs I took in the Ionian Sea of Salento. The surface of the sea embraced my gaze so that I plunged into its visual complexity and its patterns, ephemeral fragments of water and light offered me a wide range of new forms and colour combinations.

I am a self-taught photographer. After graduating in Foreign languages I moved to France where I lived for 6 years, between Paris and Nice. My relationship with photography started when I discovered Edward Weston, Lucien Clergue, Mimmo Jodice, Imogen Cunningham and many other masters whose works had a strong influence on my vision. Much of my work focuses on the language of nature and on my relationship with urban space. Shadows and lights are a means to shape my reality: photography is an inner journey, dealing with emotions where outer space gives voice to my inner 'gaze'.
