As a transgender woman and a drag queen, Asifa pushes the boundaries of what it means to be South Asian, Muslim and LGBT. Despite numerous death threats, she has remained a passionate activist and works on increasing the visibility of the ‘Gaysian’ community. She is also passionate about disability rights. She suffers from Retinitis Pigmentosa, a rare genetic eye disease which causes progressive sight loss.
