During the pandemic, Benny van der Plank left for Paris in the autumn of 2021 to be inspired for new work. However, he was overwhelmed by uncertainty, doubt and fear when he wanted to work in the same way as he had previously done. At one point, all he saw was a Paris that passed before him like a haze. Inhabitants faded into silhouettes in the background, moving anonymously through the busy metropolis. It inspired him to make the series Errer, which translates as ‘wandering’. Errer is about overcoming setbacks, reinventing yourself and daring to walk new paths.
Benny van der Plank is a Dutch photographer based in Amsterdam. He has been selected by GUP Magazine as a Fresh Eyes European Talent in 2021 and as a GUP New Dutch Photography Talent in 2022. He has won the ‘Future Challenge’ of the Berlin Photo Week 2021 and has been selected finalist of the Sarajevo Photography Award 2022. His work has been part of international group exhibitions.
