At the beginning of the pandemic, the whole world turned upside down and I needed to find a new perspective on photography. I could only find culture and art in books, so I got deeper into reading poetry and browsed through books with the works of my favorite artists. On walks with my dog, I found places where I wanted to take portraits of someone, so I approached my friends and photographed them in the embrace of nature. For the first time, I used an old Russian Helios lens in this photo, which made the photo look even more dreamy. I tried to capture my greatest inspiration and motivation.

Lia Paugsch’s photographs are imbued with an evocative stillness, inviting the viewer into a world where the delicate interplay of light and shadow reveals profound narratives. As a fine art photographer from Slovakia, she strives to reflect nature, poetry, symbolism, and the human element in her work. Her images, shaped by an intuitive sensitivity, bridge the ephemeral connection between humanity and the untamed landscapes we inhabit, often posing silent yet urgent questions. How do we belong to nature? In what ways have we drifted from its embrace? Can we reclaim a harmony that once was?
