Alix was made on a hopeful afternoon. It was the beginning of the COVID crisis in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She was born on February 2021. In the middle of the Carnival. Of a year without Carnival. This is a gift to a time that cannot be achieved. To Alix’s grandfather, my wife’s father. Who passed away more than 25 years ago. And left an old Pentax K1000. A camera with flaws. I was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, and started my professional career as a creative for advertising agencies then worked with production companies working as director and writer. Over the last 7 years, I’ve been working on Brazil’s Sunday prime time TV show as a visual journalist, mostly, with social and investigative topics. In 2019, I joined the Magnum Photos + Speos Creative Documentary and Photojournalism Masters Program, in Paris. Mixing advertising, cinema, and journalism backgrounds, I use photography or video to produce reality-driven stories with strong visual narratives.
