Qasr Al Watan (Palace of the Nation) is a Presidential Palace located in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Opened to the public in 2019, the relatively restrained exterior hides an incredibly ornate and colourful set of interior spaces. Islamic form and pattern are expressed throughout the interior spaces which are decorated extensively with gold and feature stained glass windows. These pictures aim to capture some of the richness found within this impressive set of interior spaces.
I am a self-taught photographer based in Abu Dhabi. My photography primarily focuses on architecture, cityscapes and urban compositions. I have always had a passion for photography of the built environment. My background in architectural practice has given me a unique perspective when photographing my surroundings. My time is spent capturing and documenting the incredible variety of structures and spaces that surround us, as well as the environment in which they sit and how the two interact with each other, and with the people who use them.
