For centuries their ancestors have been eagle hunters and pastoral herders who have lived on the steppe, living a nomadic existence. They live in traditional tents (‘gers’), and subsist on the meat and milk of their livestock and hunt for small animals with eagles. How many of these children will continue the ancient tradition of eagle hunting? With the younger generation seeking better opportunity in the cities, the culture of eagle hunting is becoming less vital and another unique culture will eventually vanish, but it is a way of life that is still preserved, for now at least.
