Faroese horses having their hair blown up and away by the always present and strong wind on the Faroe Islands. Faroese horses are the only native horse breed to the Faroe Islands and unfortunately critically endangered. With a total population of less than 100 horses, the breed is at the brink of extinction. The photo was taken for the project "Forgotten Horses", which portrays rare and endangered horse breeds, with the goal to raise awareness to disappearing horse breeds and preserve equine diversity.
I am an equine photographer & explorer with focus on fine art horse photography, adventurous photo tours and a curiosity for endangered domestic animals.
