Honorable Mention BIFA 2020 Fine Art / Still Life
Still Life While Sheltering In Place
During this plague year I found myself neither able to take my usual commercial work nor photograph the people and events that are my personal subjects, and so I have kept occupied with studio work.
Still life has never been a fine art pursuit of mine, but I found its technical and mental challenges an absorbing and welcome occupation.
What began six months ago as flower portraits, evolved into more careful compositions and tableaus, from which a number of directions emerged. Presented here are table top still lifes, some recalling paintings and others more casually composed.
