“L'Infiorata”, or the art of decorating streets and squares with flowers, with mosaic-like designs formed with flower petals, is in general and especially in central Italy, an ancient tradition tied to “il Corpus Dominus”. The “infiorata” in the beautiful baroque city of Noto in Sicily, is a slightly more pagan variant, welcoming “la Primavera” (the springtime) with large flower compositions that fill the streets with happiness and joy.

Margrieta was born under Northern skies, in the Netherlands. She has lived and worked in the Netherlands, Italy, Algeria, the Caribbean, Chile, Portugal and Romania. During her biology studies with a major in philosophy at Wageningen (the Netherlands), Margrieta started with a variety of studies in bronze casting, painting, etching and ceramics. Her work embraces poetry, sculpture, but her main creative outlet is photography.  Loving and using anything analogue from 35mm to a wholeplate camera. You can find her photography books here: www.margrij.com/dagdroombookseditions.
