The recent lockdown exposed an uncanny and lifeless reality.Unlike many cities which reminded the seductive and quiet first days of photography,Athens transformed into a bleak land full of stationary cars,emitting an eerie feeling of abandonment.The monochromatic landscape was not documented as an idyllic scenery but,as a stark imprint of a barren terrain-intended to serve mostly as the record of a unique historic moment.Inside the shell of the city,people seem quiet bystanders in the gloomy interiors of their homes,conveying a feeling of emptiness & reflecting the fragility of their existence
Caesura is a collection of photographs about the transitory state of refugees and migrants who entered Greece after crossing the Aegean Sea –the infamous Death passage- on their way from their homelands to the land of promise and hope: Europe. Typically the term caesura means the brief silence in the middle of a poetic verse or a musical phrase, used in this context as a metaphor for a silent break amid two violent periods. CAESURA does not attempt to provide answers or make a historic statement about this mass exodus. Rather, it seeks to raise questions about the human condition and identity
