In this series, I’m re-enacting Vantzeti’s life who left Bulgaria during the communism (1988) and spent his life in New York (1990 – 2011). Currently he goes back to his rural, small village in Bulgaria and spending more time to repairs his mother’s property. I was lead from my curiosity for a deeper understanding of his emotions during his escape and trial. He was telling me and experiencing again the memories, the places, and the people who were involved in, who were important for him in his lonely way of the fugitive.

Bissera is a Bulgarian born contemporary photographer, poet, writer, and editor in her native tongue. She became interested in photography at a very young age when she had already participated in movie and television productions and wanted to be in front of and behind the cameras at the same time. Bissera seeks the real personal story and not the person as a role model. As a poet, she needs wordless images that contain apparent emotionality.
